The first significant solo survey in Australia of Japanese international artist Chiharu Shiota will unite her spectacular installations with her emotive drawing, painting and performance practice.

The centrepiece of this project will be a major commissioned acquisition for the collection - the first of its kind by this artist in an Australian public institution. This new, site specific work will be created for the Art Gallery's historic Melrose Wing.
