START at the Gallery and the START Art Club are proudly presented by the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation.

START at the Gallery offers an exciting introduction to visual art for children and families. Held on the first Sunday of every month, START is free and includes art activities, tours, live performance and entertainment.

START is recommended for children aged 3-12 and parent / carer supervision is required. No bookings are necessary.

Sunday 4 March 2018, Imaginary Worlds
11am - 3pm
Experience a live painting demonstration by Adelaide Biennial artist Ghostpatrol, construct imaginary worlds in art workshops and be transported in storytelling performances and music this START.

Melbourne-based Ghostpatrol has been drawing and painting on streets around the globe for the last decade, making a name internationally through his ephemeral practice.

Sunday 1 April 2018, Colourful Creations
11am - 3pm
Create colourful combinations by experimenting with wax and watercolour in art workshops, meet colourful characters in storytelling and performances and join family tours that explore the use of colour in art.

Sunday 6 May 2018, Make an Impression
11am - 3pm
Capture the moment and find out how light and colour can change a scene in art workshops and family tours.  Enjoy music and performances that set the scene this START at the Gallery.

Adelaide Biennial curator Erica Green loves film and asked participating artists to identify films that have influenced them artistically, or in other ways. The result is a Cinémathèque season curated in response to the city wide exhibition Divided Worlds.
