We are firing up Friday night at the Art Gallery by staying open after hours on the first Friday of every month. Hear great talks, unwind to live music and take in the latest exhibitions and displays.
Think of the Gallery as a launch pad for your weekend; have a bite to eat and something to drink at Art Gallery Food Wine, browse in theGallery Store and immerse yourself in art and culture with an amazing mix of eclectic characters – then lose yourself in the city as you head off to other gigs, shows and events.

WORLD TEA GATHERING
Join us this First Friday as we celebrate the World Tea Gathering. Participate in an impromptu tea ceremony with visiting tea artists from across the globe, enjoy the hypnotic sounds of Moonta Street or experience an intimate contemporary performance inspired by the tea ceremony.

CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCE ART– 6.00pm
Awaken your imagination and be cleansed by a performance inspired by ritual, butoh and the tea ceremony. Tea Shaman is the brainchild of world-renowned performance artist and tea devotee Yumi Umiumare. Experience the transformative power of the act of making a bowl of tea.

CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCE ART– 6.30pm
ONE WORD PRIOR TO SPEECH
'Harmony, Respect, Purity and Tranquility' are said to make up the moral and aesthetic essence of the tea ceremony. Join Yumi Umiumare, Adam Wojciński and Erika Kobayashi as they explore these ultimate states of feeling through performance. Music performed by Stephen Whittington & Derek Pascoe.

MUSIC – 5.30pm & 7.30pm
With highlights of blues, reggae and jazz, and the influence of traditional Chinese music, Moonta Street band create music that spans continents but is uniquely Australian.
