Art Gallery of South Australia Research Library
Access
The Research Library of the Art Gallery of South Australia is primarily for use by the staff of the Gallery. It is also open to the volunteer guides of the Gallery, as well as scholars and researchers from outside. Under certain circumstances, members of the public and graduate students whose needs cannot be met by the State Library or tertiary institution libraries may also gain access to the Research Library, at the discretion of the Librarian.

The Research Library is located in the Sub-Basement of the West Wing of the Gallery, and is accessible only with security clearance. Visitors with appointments should inquire at the Information Desk.

Opening Hours
The Library is open between 9 am and 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays, except for public holidays.

Collections
The Research Library specialises in art resources, particularly in relation to the works of art in the Art Gallery of South Australia. Our strengths include European art, Asian art, and Australian art, especially South Australian art. The collection comprises over 27,000 books and exhibition catalogues, some 1000 periodical titles (over 200 of which are current), sales catalogues, ephemera, microfiche, CD-ROMs and electronic databases.
Loan Policy
Loans are limited to staff and gallery guides. Visitors cannot borrow, but may read in the Reading Room. Photocopying facilities are available for a small fee. Inter-library loans can be arranged.
