TRACEY MOFFATT: NARRATIVES

Opening this month Tracey Moffatt: narratives is the first major exhibition in Adelaide of this leading contemporary Australian artist. See many of Moffatt’s photographic series alongside her ground-breaking films. Presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia and Monash Gallery of Art in association with the 2011 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival.

Meet the Artist - Tracey Moffatt
Saturday 26 February 2 pm
Tracy Moffatt presents her newest video work Other, a seven-minute montage of old movie clips depicting attraction between races, from Marlon Brando eyeing off the Tahitian girls in Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), to scenes from Sex and the City. If you are part of a mixed-race couple, then Tracey Moffatt wants to see you there! Even if you're not, come along, sit back and enjoy the show, which is followed by a conversation between the Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia, Nick Mitzevich, and Tracey Moffatt, and have your chance to speak directly with the artist.
Presented free in the Radford Auditorium.

Explore the ground-breaking representation of conflict in two series of prints: Jacques Callot’s The Miseries and misfortunes of war 1633, created in the context of the Thirty Years War (1618–48) and Francisco Goya’s The Disasters of War 1810–20, documenting the atrocities of the French invasion of Spain by Napoleon Bonaparte (1808–13).
