Educators Connect - First Fridays
Connect with educators each First Friday at the Art Gallery and immerse yourself in art and culture. Start with a bite to eat, something to drink and engaging conversation. Hear talks on the latest exhibitions and displays, while networking and discussing viewpoints on curriculum connections.

Join us for our first event on 4 September with The Power of Pattern. ORIZOMEGAMI presentation by Ruth Flaherty, VAESA President, and floor talk in The Power of Pattern display by Jennifer Harris.

Professional Learning certificates provided to participants (linked to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers)
When: First Friday of every month, 4.30pm for a 5.15pm start

Personalised Group Sessions for Educators
Teaching sessions for school educators F-12 are available and are conducted by the DECD Education Manager by arrangement.

Broad areas that can be discussed are:

Art Gallery as a cross-curriculum resource

Art – world, traditions, history, industry, the artists, ideas and language – traditional to contemporary

­Society – art works as windows on history and social systems

Cultures – cultural identity, belief systems and traditions

Environment – relationship with nature and the environment documented or expressed through art

­Ideas – individual voices, imagination, expression and communication

Technology – art documenting technological change and art as the product of technology

Science – art and artists extending understanding of the changing earth, the cycles of life and living, the material world and relationships with nature

Photography in the Gallery Policy
Visitors to the Gallery are permitted to take photographs with hand-held cameras in non-restricted areas for personal use only. Permission is granted on the understanding that the Art Gallery of South Australia does not authorise any photography or use of photographic material that may infringe the copyright or moral rights of the artist. The use of tripods, flash or additional lighting is not permitted. Filming and videorecording are also not permitted.
In restricted areas such as temporary exhibitions, signage at the entrance will advise of any photographic restrictions. Applications for photography in restricted areas, filming or use of additional equipment must be made in writing to the Publications Officer: Image Sales & Rights. Fees and conditions may apply.
