RECENT EVENTS
DEPARTURE: Beneath the Winds
Friday 18 November
Beneath the Winds: Masterpieces of Southeast Asian Art
It was hot and humid for our last DEPARTURE of 2012, which set the scene for our
Southeast Asian inspired evening. DJ Mehdi and DJ Big Bubba had great tracks going all night, and
the dance floor kicked off early in the evening. Curators James Bennett and Rusty Kelty gave
fascinating torchlight tours through the exhibition.
DEPARTURE: underground
Friday 12 August 6-10 pm
Saatchi Gallery in Adelaide: British Art Now
It was another sell-out DEPARTURE with 500 getting on board
the London underground for a tour of the hottest British contemporary art
in the blockbuster exhibition
Saatchi Gallery in Adelaide: British Art Now. Curators Maria Zagala and Lisa Slade
gave guided tours through the biggest exhibition ever staged at the Gallery, taking the pulse on
the ‘right now’ of contemporary art.
DEPARTURE: Perhaps the world is fine tonight
Friday 3 June
PATRICIA PICCININI: Once upon a time...
Things were not quite as they seemed at the last DEPARTURE. After an amazing journey through
the hybrid beings and anthropomorphic machines in the exhibition
PATRICIA PICCININI: Once upon a time… guests were transformed by body paint artists The
Imagineers and mesmerised by the magic of James James. The spectacular moves of
performers Ninian Donald and Carlie Angel, along with music of local band 1.1 Immerman and the
sounds of DJ Mehdi whisked the crowd to a land not so far far away…
