WALL LABEL: Hans Heysen: The Creative Journey, 1992
This finished compositional drawing is almost certainly a study made after the painting Approaching storm with bushfire haze, in preparation for his proposed larger canvas. Usually, Heysen’s paintings are more resolved than their respective compositional drawings. In this instance the drawing is more resolved and shows no evidence of struggle.
