South Australian
Living Artists Festival
2 August 11 August 2002
South Australia is home to some of the most dynamic and
talented of the nations visual artists. This display coincides with South Australian
Living Artists Festival, a conjunction of exhibitions, artists talks and other
special events which celebrate the talent and imagination of artists living and working
throughout the state.
This selection of works from the Gallerys collection
highlights the diversity of styles and techniques employed by South Australian artists.
Paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs and decorative arts by contemporary
South Australian artists are regularly included in the permanent displays, and these are
highlighted throughout the Gallery for the duration of SALA Festival. At 12.45 pm daily
for the duration of the Festival, artists will present talks about their works in the
collection.
The Gallerys exhibition program regularly highlights
the work of South Australian living artists. Some recent notable examples are: Hossein
Valamanesh: a survey (29 June 26 August 2001), Chemistry: Art in South
Australia 1990-2000. The Faulding Exhibition (16 September 5 November 2000), Antony
Hamilton: The mythology of landscape (3 September 7 November 1999) and Ann
Newmarch: the personal is political (15 August 28 September 1997). |
