About the exhibition
Australia + Germany: International Craft Triennale presents the latest
ceramics, metalwork, jewellery, textiles, glass, furniture and artist books from over 100
German and Australian artists and craft practitioners. Australia is privileged to be the
partner nation in the eighth of this series of triennial exhibitions organised by the
Museum of Decorative Arts in Frankfurt which showcase contemporary decorative arts from
Germany alongside those of one other invited country. Australia's involvement in the Triennale
is an initiative of the Australia Council's Visual Arts/Craft Fund and the Australian
component has been curated and managed through the Art Gallery of South Australia. Australia
+ Germany opened at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Frankfurt in September 2000 and
after Adelaide goes to the Object Galleries, Customs House, Sydney (12 May-24 June). A
fully illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition.
There will be an afternoon forum on Friday 9 March and a lunchtime talk about
the exhibition on Tuesday 13 March. See below for more details.
